Programa 4 días / 3 Noches – Parque Nacional Manu
DÍA 01:Salida de la ciudad del Cusco muy temprano por la mañana en uno de nuestros vehículos. Atravesaremos interesantes valles interandinos y pintorescas comunidades campesinas. A media mañana visitaremos las Tumbas Pre-Incas de Ninamarca, conocidas como “Chullpas” para luego dirigirnos a Paucartambo, típico pueblo colonial de mucha importancia en aquel entonces y que aún conserva su sabor. Continuando el viaje ascenderemos hasta el abra de Acjanacu a 3,850 m.s.n.m. Desde aquí iniciamos el descenso pasando por el Bosque de Nubes, zona muy rica en especies endémicas como el Oso de Anteojos y Gallito de las Rocas, orquídeas, bromelias, helechos, etc. Almuerzo en la ruta observando la naturaleza para luego continuar hasta llegar a nuestro albergue Orquídeas de San Pedro donde pasaremos nuestra primera noche cómodamente instalados.
DÍA 02: Muy temprano podremos apreciar la interesante danza de cortejo del Gallito de las Rocas, ave nacional del Perú, quien posee un llamativo plumaje de color rojo-naranja muy intenso instalados en una plataforma camuflada; después de desayunar continuamos nuestro viaje en bus, atravesando la selva alta, arribando al poblado de Pilcopata*, posteriormente al puerto de Atalaya donde almorzaremos, este lugar está situado a orillas del río Alto Madre de Dios, a 700 m.s.n.m desde donde iniciaremos el descenso por el río por 15 minutos aproximadamente. Podremos observar la enorme diversidad de especies de aves existentes, como garzas, buitres, cormoranes, etc. hasta llegar a nuestra Reserva Privada "Erika" donde caminaremos por las interesantes trochas de este punto transicional entre selva alta y selva baja. Pernocte en el albergue.
*1 Opcional gratuito: Desde Pilcopata emprenderemos un recorrido de aproximadamente 1 hora y media de canotaje (clases I y II) por los ríos Koshñipata y/o Alto Madre de Dios, pasando por el espectacular Pongo del Koñeq donde pararemos para disfrutar del paisaje y de un baño en sus cristalinas aguas.

Opcional gratuito : Caminamos por una trocha que nos lleva a nuestra plataforma de observación situada a 15 metros de la misma collpa donde esperamos a la manada de huanganas a las que observamos y fotografiamos en acción. IMPORTANTEe: La exitosa observación depende de suerte, disponibilidad de espacios y condiciones climáticas.
DÍA 03: Erika está ubicada en Zona Transicional entre Selva Alta y Selva Baja (600 m.s.n.m. - 1,550 m.s.n.m.), Después del desayuno el guía les explicara las diferentes altitudes que dan lugar a diversos hábitats, así como la alta diversidad de vida silvestre de los alrededores. Después de almorzar, abordaremos nuestra embarcación en la cual navegaremos por 5 minutos para cruzar el río Alto madre de Dios y caminar por 30 minutos aproximadamente por un sendero interesante para observar y conversar sobre flora interesante como las plantas sensitivas, heliconias, plantaciones frutales, etc. hasta llegar a la laguna de Machuwasi donde instalaremos el telescopio para observar aves como garza real, tucanetas, carpintero crestirojo, bienteveos, cardinales, etc.
*3 Opcional gratuito - Canopy tour: Nuestros clientes de Erika Lodge tienen la oportunidad de pasar de árbol a árbol y de plataforma a plataforma usando arneses en un cable horizontal con un sistema de carriles con los que deslizan a gran velocidad sobre la copa de los árboles de esta fabulosa selva amazónica donde se pueden ver desde lo alto la diversidad avifauna y otros de la zona. Personal especializado los ayudara en todo momento durante esta excitante experiencia y les explicaran todo lo interesante que se observe desde el momento que uno deja el suelo hasta que se baja en rappel desde 30 metros de altura.
DÍA 04: Muy temprano abordaremos nuestra embarcación en la cual navegaremos por 10 minutos para dirigirnos a la Collpa, una pared arcillosa del río donde las diferentes especies de loros como el loro cabeza azul, perico de ojo blanco y posiblemente al guacamayo Maracano (Ara severa) entre otros bajan cada mañana a extraer y lamer trozos de arcilla que contienen los minerales necesarios para su balance dietético. Al finalizar esta cotidiana actividad retornamos a nuestro albergue Erika después del desayuno abordamos el bote hacia el Puerto de Atalaya, donde nos espera el bus que nos llevará de retorno a la ciudad de Cusco, almuerzamos en ruta arribando por la noche. FIN DE NUESTROS SERVICIOS.
IMPORTANTEE
El parque Nacional del Manu no es una zona endémica no hay Malaria ni fiebre amarilla necesitan llevar un buen repelente de insecto.
Si Ud. desea vacunarse contra la fiebre amarilla por prevención lo puede realizar con un 10 días antes del inicio del su tour a la selva.

Manu Zona Reservada - Parque Nacional Manu 8 Días / 7 Noches

DÍA 02:

Desde Pilcopata emprenderemos un recorrido de aproximadamente 1 hora y media de canotaje (clases I y II) por los ríos Koshñipata y/o Alto Madre de Dios, pasando por el espectacular Pongo del Koñeq donde pararemos para disfrutar del paisaje y de un baño en sus cristalinas aguas.
DÍA 03: Después de desayunar, abordaremos nuestra embarcación en la cual navegaremos por el Rió Alto Madre de Dios con destino Boca Manu. Este recorrido en bote nos brinda la oportunidad de observar aves como: rayadores, garzas y varias especies de Martín Pescadores, golondrinas y atrapamoscas. En la Villa de Boca Manu es posible comprar las últimas provisiones y bebidas heladas. Pasamos la noche en el albergue Boca. Posibilidad de hacer una corta caminata nocturna.

DÍA 04: En nuestra embarcación nos dirigirnos a la Collpa de pericos, una pared arcillosa del río donde las diferentes especies de loros como el loro cabeza azul, perico de ojo blanco, entre otros bajan cada mañana a extraer y lamer trozos de arcilla. Al finalizar esta actividad, haremos una breve parada en el Puesto de Vigilancia Limonal, donde presentaremos los documentos necesarios para el control de ingreso a la Zona Reservada. Emprenderemos viaje por el río Manu corriente arriba dejando todo rastro de civilización con dirección al corazón de Zona Reservada por aproximadamente 4 horas hasta Cocha Salvador, donde pasaremos las siguientes dos noches en nuestro campamento Sajino safari que cuenta con habitaciones dobles totalmente enmallados, comedor enmallado, servicios higiénicos incluyendo duchas, radio comunicación y energía fotovoltaica.
Durante este trayecto se podrá apreciar un sin número de especies de aves, caimanes, tortugas de río y algunos mamíferos frecuentemente soleándose en las playas o alimentándose de los árboles aledaños. Este recorrido nos muestra la inmensidad de nuestra selva. Después de almorzar dedicamos nuestro tiempo a caminar en búsqueda de vida salvaje en esta prístina selva y conversar sobre ecología general
DÍA 05: De madrugada probablemente nos despierte el mono aullador declarando su territorio ante otros. Antes de desayunar tendremos una matutina caminata ya que la temperatura a esta hora hace que sea frecuente encontrar animales en busca de alimento. Exploraremos Cocha Salvador usando el catamarán, pudiendo apreciar algunas especies de fauna tales como la Nutria Gigante (Pteronura brasiliensis) una especie en vías de extinción, importante habitante que se le puede ver pescando, jugando o nadando, de la misma manera al Caimán Negro (Melanosuchus niger), al Hoatzin (Ophisthocomus hoatzin), al Mono Araña (Ateles paniscus), etc. y flora de sus alrededores; luego retornaremos al campamento donde nuestro amigable personal estará esperando para ofrecernos un reparador desayuno. Atravesaremos un bosque primario con mayor diversidad de especies con dirección a Cocha Otorongo, laguna donde existe una torre de observación estratégicamente ubicada a 15 metros de altura desde la que tendremos la oportunidad de apreciar el paisaje del bosque primario circundante y mayores posibilidades de ver a la familia residente de nutrias gigantes, además de grandes oportunidades de observar aves que habitan los doseles. De retorno a Salvador tenemos la posibilidad de usar el catamarán de cocha Salvador y con ayuda de nuestras linternas poder observar al Caimán Negro que sale en búsqueda de su presa. Pernocte en nuestro campamento Sajino safari.
DÍA 06: Este día nuevamente nos levantaremos temprano para hacer caminatas alrededor de Cocha Salvador para luego empacar y abordar nuestra embarcación que nos lleva corriente abajo lentamente por el río Manu dirigimos a continuación hacia Boca Manu, pequeño poblado ubicado en la confluencia de los ríos Manu y Alto Madre de Dios. A partir de este punto, el río toma el nombre de Madre de Dios, convirtiéndose en el eje hidrográfico del Departamento de Madre de Dios, al caer la tarde, se arribará a la Reserva Privada de Juan de Dios donde se caminara por su interesante sistema de trochas, pasaremos una noche más envueltos por la magia de la selva amazónica. Posibilidad de hacer una corta caminata nocturna para la búsqueda del Sapo Americano, ranas cornetas, ranas arbóreas y una gran cantidad de coloridos e interesantes insectos. Pernocte en el albergue.
DÍA 07: Alrededor de media mañana surcaremos el río Alto Madre de Dios observando siempre la enorme diversidad de avifauna. Pasamos la noche en nuestro albergue Erika o acampando en una playa apropiada, ultima noche en esta maravillosa selva Amazónica.
DÍA 08: Levantándonos muy temprano continuaremos surcando el río hacia el puerto de Atalaya al que llegaremos al atardecer para luego tomar el bus de retorno a la ciudad del Cusco llegando a ésta tarde por la noche o al día siguiente muy temprano por la mañana. FIN DE NUESTROS SERVICIOS.
IMPORTANTE: Con el fin de conocer el guía y al grupo de participantes, y de dar unas últimas recomendaciones y contestar preguntas; el día previo a la partida a las 7:00pm tenemos una reunión en la agencia (Plateros 356).

Observación de aves – Parque Nacional de Manu & Tambopata Candamo - Servicio privado (entrada por bus y salida por bus o vuelo)
DÍA 01: Cusco – Huacarpay
Salimos de Cusco alrededor de las 4:30 a.m. para llegar a la Laguna de Huacarpay, 30 minutos más tarde. Aquí pasaremos el día entero observando aves de tierras altas y de pantanos alrededor del lago donde veremos a la mayoría de aves acuáticas típicas de los humedales andinos, incluyendo zambullidores, patos, gallinetas y gallaretas. Los humedales (sitio Ramsa) son buenos para avistar aves del lago y el Negrito Andino (Lessonia oreas). Podemos encontrar aves migrantes ocasionales como el poco común Aguja de Mar ( Limosa haemastica), Playerito de Baird (Calidris bairdii), Siete colores de la Totora (Tachuris rubrigastra) y dos endémicos como Canasteros de Frente Oxidada (Asthenes ottonis) y al Montañés Barbudo (Oreonympha nobilis), un colibrí espectacular; todos pueden ser vistos desde las ruinas sobre el monte. Pasaremos la noche en nuestro albergue.
DÍA 02:Laguna de Huacarpay (Humedales) – Rancho Pumachaca Continuaremos hacia las interesantes tumbas de Ninamarca, comúnmente conocidas como "Chullpas". Tomaremos un breve descanso en Paucartambo, un pintoresco pueblo colonial de estilo español, y luego continuaremos hacia el Rancho Pumachaca donde alguna vez se reportó una Perdiz de Taczanowski (Nothoprocta tacsanowskii) entre la delgada pista y los arbustos de montaña semi-húmeda. Es común ver las siguientes aves en Pumachaca: Rayo-de-Sol (Aglaeactis castelnaudii), Cola-Espina de Cresta Cremosa (Cranioleuca albicapilla), Mielerito Cinéreo (Conirostrum cinereum) y Pato de los Torrentes (Merganetta armata). Relájese cerca de nuestra chimenea y duerma en confortables acomodaciones.
DÍA 03: Rancho Pumachaca – Acjanaco
After early wake up and walk around the interesting trails, we continue up Acjanacu pass with its elfin forest marks the beginning of the Cultural Zone of Manu Biosphere Reserve. Birders love this place because it is possible to see White-browed chat-tyrant, the Chestnut-breasted mountain-finch, Puna Thistle tail, Paramo Pipit, Diademed Tapaculo, Puna Tapaculo, Masked flower piercer, Golden-collared Tanager, Drab hemispingus and small mixed flocks with among others, then walk down to Pillahuata site located in upper montane humid forest also known as the Coshñipata Valley where the bird species are quite different from Acjanacu. Overnight at the Orquideas de San Pedro Lodge.
DÍA 04:San Pedro
Early morning is possible to see many different species of birds such as the Hooded Tinamou, Stripe-faced Wood-Quail, Golden plumed parakeet, Yungas Pygmy-Owl, Gould’s Inca, Blue-banded Toucanet, Crimson –mantled Woodpecker, Sierran Elaenia, White-collared Jay, Mountain Cacique. Again, it is the best simply to bird your way slowly along the road. There will be plenty of activity, with several specialities to look for the Chestnut-bellied Mountain Tanager, Tawny-rumped tyrannuler, Band-tailed Fruit eater and the barred Fruit eater in the mixed flocks, as well as Gray-breasted Mountain Toucan.
One bird to look out for in mixed folcks is the vividly-colourer Ochraceous-breasted Flycatcher and the same thing for the spectacular Greater Scythe bill. Overnight at Orquideas de San Pedro Lodge.
DÍA 05:San Pedro
Here, a thick cloak of clouds provides perpetual humidity and makes an ideal habitat for epiphytic plants such as bromeliads. This varied and fascinating world is home of the Cock of the Rock, Spectacled Bear, Orchids, Tree Ferns (one of the oldest living plants), mosses and lichens. This cloud forest exists between 2,000 and 3,500 m.a.s.l., and at least 50% of the plant species found here are endemic to this region. ToDÍA we wake up very early to observe the Cock of the Rock (Rupicola peruviana ), Peru’s national bird from a platform. The male birds are a vibrant reddish orange, and as many as several dozen come together for an exhibition of a mating ritual dance in a place called Lek. The males display their crest, showing off and posturing for the females. The females, fewer in number, watch to select the most suitable males. After breakfast spend the entire DÍA birding walking on the road. Overnight at Orquídeas de San Pedro Lodge.
DÍA 06:San Pedro - Erika Lodge
As our lodge is very close to the Cock-of-the-rock Lek, we are able to visit it again and try to spot one of the females hidden in the forest. As we continue our journey to lowlands, we stop in Patria where the cattle pleasures and secondary forest are good for seedeaters and other open habitat species of birds as the Orange-breasted Falcon, Military macaw, green-fronted lancebill, golden-collared honeycreeper and others. Atalaya overlooks is outstanding for viewing macaws. From Atalaya port, we board our covered, motorized canoe and head down the Alto Madre de Dios River until Erika Lodge, where we will have the opportunity to walk through the interesting trails. Overnight at the lodge.
DÍA 07:Erika Lodge
This lodge is situated in the transition zone of the Andean foothills and the lowland rainforest. It has many more species of hummingbirds then is normally present in a rainforest lodge. Among 30 species of hummingbirds on their list is the endemic Rufus- webbed Brilliant. Here we find the Rufus –vented Ground Cuckoo, the gray-necked woddrail, Blackish rail and Rufus-sided cracked. Close to a small lake there are Purple Gallinules, Hoatzins, Lesser kiskades and occasionally Pygmy Kingfishers and sun grebes. After lunch we follow an interesting trail, going up to the ridge at 1000 m.a.s.l. where we encounter mixed bird flocks. This higher area is also home of the emerald toucanet, ornate flycatcher, orange fronted plush crown and the uncommon tawny-faced gnat wren, umbrella bird among others.
DÍA 08:Erika lodge
This DÍA we will get up very early to board our boat, and after five minutes, we will arrive to a Parrot Lick “Collpa”, which is a wall of clay in the riverbanks, where many species of parrots such as the blue headed parrot, white-eyed parakeet, feed for mineral and salt supplements to their diet of seeds and fruits. After this we spend the DÍA, as we bird the trails, remember that this site gets birds from the lowlands like the Amazonian Streaked-Antwren, as well as some species typical of high elevations.
DÍA 09:Erika – Boca
After breakfast we leave Erika Lodge and board our canoe ride down the Alto Madre de Dios River to Boca Manu Village during our voyage we may see bird species typical of the river or forest edge such as: Black Skimmer, Pied Lapwing, Capped Heron, Jabiru Stork, and several species of kingfishers, swallows and flycatchers. Boca Manu’s village is situated a short distance from the confluence of the Manu River with the Alto Madre de Dios River place where you can buy your last fresh supplies and cold drinks before setting off again in the canoe toward Boca Lodge where we will spend the night. Option to do a short nigh walk.
DÍA 10: Boca Manu
This DÍA we visit an island that belongs to a native family and walk around the lake and observe all the bird life. We spend the entire DÍA searching for birds species around the lodge. Overnight at Boca Lodge.
DÍA 11:Boca Manu – Salvador Lake
Very early and after a ten minutes boat ride, we will arrive to a Parrot Lick “Collpa”, which is a wall of clay in the riverbanks, where many species of parrots such as the blue headed parrot, the white-eyed parakeet, the dusky-headed parrot the chestnut fronted macaw and others feed for mineral and salt supplements to their diet of seeds and fruits. After registering in the official tourist logbook at Limonal, the Park Rangers Headquarters and eating an early breakfast, we follow the Manu River until we arrive Salvador Lake, our base safari campsite (screened double rooms, dining room, bathrooms, radio communication is available). This canoe ride gives us the opportunity to observe the immensity of the rainforest and the diversity of birdlife, reptiles and mammals. You will often see animals sunning themselves on beaches, or foraging for food in the trees lining the riverbanks. We arrive early in the afternoon and have lunch before setting off on a jungle trail. Our time is spent looking for wildlife inside the rainforest and on Salvador Oxbow Lake, until the sun goes down and we return to camp. We explore Salvador Lake by paddling quietly along on a catamaran, giving us the opportunity to observe unique species of birds, monkeys, caimans and with luck the Giant Otter (Pteronura brasiliensis). This endangered species can be seen swimming, fishing, eating and playing.
DÍA 12:Salvador Lake
We rise early in the morning, as the forest is awakened by the Red Howler monkey (Aloatta seniculus) declaring its territory. A morning walk before breakfast is a great way to catch wildlife in the pursuit of food, as the temperature is very pleasant at this time of DÍA.
The 20 minutes walk from the river to the lake takes you through a nice terra firme forest. The epigone trail around the lake has a good selection of bird species where we should be looking for the range-restricted black-faced Cotinga. Overnight in the safari campsite.
DÍA 13:Salvador – Otorongo Lakes Very early we visit Salvador Lake because birding from the catamaran while been paddled around the lake makes for a very pleasant and memorable birding experience with all of the lake specialities possible: Agami heron, Slender-billed Kite, Pale-eyed Blackbird, Long-crested Pygmy tyrant, Hawk-Eagle, Hairy-crested Ant bird, purple-throated Cotinga and many others. After relaxing we cross the river to walk an 8-km trail to another oxbow lake called Otorongo. A strategically located observation tower rises 15 meters above the lake and the jungle floor, giving us more chances to observe wildlife including the Giant Otter. Overnight in the safari campsite.
DÍA 14:Salvador – Pakitza - Salvador
Within the Park, Pakitza claims some of the most extensive bamboo patches and therefore holds an almost complete set of bamboo specialist, Pakitza is a guard post at the entrance of the restricted area of the park. It is possible to see species of birds such as the Painted parakeet, Black-Capped Parakeet Mottled Owl, Lined Forest Falcon, Ihering’s Antwren, Manu Ait bird, and many others. Back to Salvador before the sunset.
Late in the afternoon we will use the catamaran and with the help of flashlights we can observe the black caimans rise from the depths of the lake and begin their search for prey. Return to the campsite.
DÍA 15:Salvador – Maquisapayoq
This DÍA we will get up very early to board our boat, down and arriving to the confluence with the Manu River where the Madre de Dios River begins. For Birdwatching, traveling by boat is very good, there are Vultures, Macaws, Herons, Egrets, Cormorants, Terns and others. The night is spent at Maquisapayoj Lodge with private bathrooms. Optional night walk.
DÍA 16:Maquisapayoq - Blanquillo
Early in the morning we travel 40 minutes ,we go 5 min by boat) by boat and after a walk 15 minutes to the blind of the Macaws of Blanquillo Macaw Clay Lick and watch as flocks of Parakeets, Parrots and Macaws arrive to eat the clay at the lick. In the afternoon we go to Blanco Lake looking for Giant River Otters and lake birds like Hoatzins, Kingfishers, Flycatchers, Grebes and others. In the afternoon we return to Maquisapayoj and walk for about 1 1/2 hours through primary forest to get to the mammal salt lick, just in front of the clay lick. Here we have the chance to observe tapirs or other mammals at night.
DÍA 17:Maquisapayoq - Camungo
This DÍA we will use a strategically located observation tower rises 46 meters above Camungo Lake and the jungle floor, giving us more chances to observe wildlife including the Giant Otter and many different species of birds that are common to this altitude of the canopy such as macaws, toucans, wood creepers, woodpeckers can be observed flying near this platform. Enjoy the spectacular view with large canopies from a tall Kapok tree with a 360 degree view
A night birding can be productive with Great Potoo, Common Potto and even Long-tailed Potto. Overnight at the Lodge.
DÍA 18:Maquisapayoq - Colorado – Nái-Mecí Lodge.-
After a very early wake up, we continue to Colorado village and by land to the Inambari River, we cross the river in local canoes and take again a vehicle through the Interoceanic road for three hours to Puerto Maldonado Port, where our boat takes us to our marvelous Nái-Mecí Lodge and relax in the comfortable luxurious service.
DÍA 19:Nái-Mecí Lodge.- Breakfast will be offered for all our guests .Meet our bilingual guide who is going to offer an introduction to the rainforest itself, immediately after a free time to relax in our fabulous bungalows. A first walk though our interesting trail system. Dinner, talk about the experience in the Amazon jungle and a briefing for next DÍA’s plans. As optional short NOCHES walk to observe insects and amphibians. Overnight at Nái-Mecí Lodge.
DÍA 20:Nái-Mecí Lodge. – Collpa el Chuncho campsite we will start our expedition very early in the morning. We will enter the very heart of the Tambopata Candamo Reserve following the river upstream for 8 hours until we reach the Macaw Clay Lick, Collpa Chuncho. During our journey, we will appreciate the intensive and pure wildlife of a rainforest reserve. Arriving at the clay lick area, we will set up camp and spend the night. The collpa is an earth cliff containing the mineral salt veins that are necessary for the feeding of various animals, mainly macaws, parrots that come every morning in masses to feed on this nutritional resource. We will camp in front of the collpa and walk around the place.
DÍA 21:Collpa de Guacamayos campsite - Nái-Mecí Lodge .- At 5am we will wake up and walk to a good viewing position to observe the Collpa el Chuncho. Immediately after we pack up camp and return to the lodge by boat in about 7 hours.
DÍA 22:Nái-Mecí Lodge – Sandoval Lake - Nái-Mecí Lodge.- A buffet breakfast will be offered for all our guests. Once again our motor boat will take us on the river to observe the fabulous bird life until the rangers control and the entry to Sandoval Lake located inside the Tambopata Reserve. We start a 3 kilometer walk through an interesting trail though a swamp and the Lake itself, board small canoes and while been paddled around the lake makes for a very pleasant and memorable birding experience with all of the lake specialities possible: Agami heron, Slender-billed Kite, Pale-eyed Blackbird, Long-crested Pygmy tyrant, Hawk-Eagle, Hairy-crested Ant bird, purple-throated Cotinga and many others. We walk back to our motorized boat and to our lodge. Dinner. Overnight at Nái-Mecí Lodge.
DÍA 23: Transfer to Puerto Maldonado’s airport. End of our service.

In the Amazonian region we can still find ethnic groups, which its life style is related with their ecosystem. They still healing by rituals practiced by a Shaman or spiritual guide.
In this trip we have the chance to experience this healing practices and rituals to encounter the nature and find physical and spiritual balance.
Elemental plants will be present in our program, which will be performed OUR PRIVATE Reserve of Erika Lodge. This program consists in three DÍAs of rituals and one optional DÍA for health, without any age limitations.

PROGRAM 4 DÍAS / 3 NOCHES
DÍA 01: We leave Cusco early in the morning in our specialized overland vehicles. Approximately mid-morning we visit the interesting tombs of Ninamarca, commonly known as “Chullpas”. We continue to Paucartambo, a picturesque Spanish colonial town, and then to the Acjanacu pass, which marks the beginning of the Cultural Zone of Manu Biosphere Reserve. Here, a thick cloak of clouds provides perpetual humidity and makes an ideal habitat for epiphytic plants such as bromeliads. This varied and fascinating world is home of the Cock of the Rock, Spectacled Bear, Orchids, Tree Ferns (one of the oldest living plants), mosses and lichens. This cloud forest exists between 2000 and 3500 meters above sea level, and at least 50% of the plant species found here are endemic to this region. Overnight in Orquídeas de San Pedro Lodge.
DÍA 02: ToDÍA we wake up very early to observe the Cock of the Rock (Rupicola peruviana ), Peru’s national bird. The male birds are a vibrant reddish orange, and at about 5:00AM as many as several dozen come together for an exhibition of a mating ritual dance in a place called Lek. The males display their crest, showing off and posturing for the females. The females, fewer in number, watch to select the most suitable males. After breakfast we continue in our overland transport down the narrow road between waterfalls and canyons Atalaya port. Here, we board our covered, outboard motor boat and head down the Alto Madre de Dios River for approximately 15 minutes toward our private reserve of “Erika” where we will meet our Shaman who is going to introduce us to the mother nature contacting our senses with the elements: water, air, earth and fire.
DÍA 3: During the morning we will have time to think about the information received from the Shaman, at midDÍA we will begin the water ceremony, late at night with relaxing exercises, songs and dances the Shaman is going to prepare a Hallucinogenic drink called “ayahuasca” which will be also offered to who is ready for this experience. During the “highs”, he will see beautiful and colourful visions of long lost or deceased friends, strange animals and spirits of the trees, etc. Under the influence, he divines the cause and cure for his associate’s illnesses. Then he may chant or whistle as purifies them with rhythmic “Shacapa” fan, and as he blows organic tobacco smoke onto selected body points of the patient. He may use any of several medicinal herbs at this point, or prescribe them for later use, depending on the diagnosis and prognosis of the patient.
DÍA 4: During the morning we will make retrospection of the last DÍAs always with our Shaman, enjoy the jungle and rest. The Shaman will give us the last advises and recommendations. After breakfast we board our bus and ride back to Cusco. END OF OUR SERVICES.

A media mañana visitaremos las Tumbas Pre-Incas de Ninamarca, conocidas como “Chullpas” para luego dirigirnos a Paucartambo, típico pueblo colonial de mucha importancia en aquel entonces y que aún conserva su sabor. Continuando el viaje ascenderemos hasta el abra de Acjanacu a 3,850 m.s.n.m. Desde aquí iniciamos el descenso pasando por el Bosque de Nubes, zona muy rica en especies endémicas como el Oso de Anteojos y Gallito de las Rocas, orquídeas, bromelias, helechos, etc. Almuerzo en la ruta observando la naturaleza para luego continuar hasta llegar a nuestro albergue Orquídeas de San Pedro donde pasaremos nuestra primera noche cómodamente instalados.

Salimos de Cusco alrededor de las 4:30 a.m. para llegar a la Laguna de Huacarpay, 30 minutos más tarde. Aquí pasaremos el día entero observando aves de tierras altas y de pantanos alrededor del lago donde veremos a la mayoría de aves acuáticas típicas de los humedales andinos, incluyendo zambullidores, patos, gallinetas y gallaretas. Los humedales (sitio Ramsa) son buenos para avistar aves del lago y el Negrito Andino (Lessonia oreas). Podemos encontrar aves migrantes ocasionales como el poco común Aguja de Mar ( Limosa haemastica), Playerito de Baird (Calidris bairdii), Siete colores de la Totora (Tachuris rubrigastra) y dos endémicos como Canasteros de Frente Oxidada (Asthenes ottonis) y al Montañés Barbudo (Oreonympha nobilis), un colibrí espectacular; todos pueden ser vistos desde las ruinas sobre el monte. Pasaremos la noche en nuestro albergue.
